About Umar Farooq

Hi! Hey! How’s it going? My name is Umar Farooq (he/him), and I am an artist with an LMSW. I got my Master’s at the University of Northern Iowa’s Social Work program, where I had the opportunity to specialize in Trauma-Informed Care. Beyond Social Work, I have a background in Social Justice and I am dedicated to supporting you in addressing systemic factors that may impact your well-being.

In my practice, I like to integrate elements of psychotherapy, body-movement therapy, somatic work and cognitive-behavioral therapy in order to best address individuals’ current presenting symptoms. Additionally, I am enthusiastic about incorporating artistic endeavors in therapeutic environments. As a music producer and videographer, I understand how significant of a role art plays in my own personal journey, and I believe creativity can tap into a part of our brain that facilitates healing and self-love.

This is why I made Traumadelic Therapy. Here, I can combine my creative endeavors with my work as a therapist to provide some of the best forms of educational content possible about mental health, trauma, and healing. I had the opportunity to learn all about primary, secondary, and vicarious trauma and how traumatic experiences may develop into PTSD or Complex-PTSD. I believe this should information should be available to everyone.

No one should have to go through tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars of student debt to learn about the basics of trauma.

Who we serve:

Let’s be clear about one thing: we serve everyone.

Traumadelic Therapy believes in inclusivity and equity. Trauma-informed means trauma-informed for everybody.

You can trust that we are an ally to all movements aligned with social justice such as the LGBTQIA+, BLM, and all other communities that uphold and promote social equity.
